Conservatives soft on same-sex marriage
Losing our core values
By Joe Tremblay
Conservatives are bending on same-sex marriage. There is a disturbing trend among conservatives both in politics and in the media in favor of same-sex marriage. Some deny the importance altogether like Fox News commentator Glenn Beck, while others affirm the importance of it but do not believe it to be a higher priority than the economy like 2008 presidential candidate Michael Huckabee.

Newt not fit to lead GOP
Candidate is man of the past
By Jeffrey T. Kuhner
Newt Gingrich has thrown his hat into the ring. The former House speaker has formally declared he will seek the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Mr. Gingrich has toyed for years with running for the White House. Now he finally is all in. Mr. Gingrich has many positive attributes. He is articulate, smart and possesses instant name recognition. Moreover, he has a political machine and a network of advisers that will help him establish a formidable ground game. Mr. Gingrich’s candidacy, however, is a dollar short and a day late.

As politics and science collide
Time to cut ethanol subsidies
By Dr. Leigh Broadhurst
Despite a mandate from the electorate to cut federal spending, Congress renewed ethanol subsidies for 2011, and shows no signs of cutting them for 2012.

Israel in the crosshairs
The U.N. vote on Palestine
By Herbert London
In September, the United Nations (UN) will attempt to create a Palestinian state through political mandate. It should be obvious to anyone who has observed UN action in recent years that this is not merely an attempt to justify the political aspirations of Palestinians, but rather to punish Israel. This initiative should be seen against a backdrop of Muslim imperial ambitions.

Death of Osama bin Laden
One victory, many defeats
By Jeffrey T. Kuhner
Americans are rightly rejoicing over the killing of Osama bin Laden. The al Qaeda mastermind perpetrated the deadliest atrocity on U.S. soil. The Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks murdered nearly 3,000 of our own and represented the culmination of bin Laden’s war on America. For almost a decade, jihadists struck key targets - the 1993 assault on the World Trade Center, the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1998 attacks on U.S. embassies in East Africa and the 2000 strike on the USS Cole in Yemen. Bin Laden deserved to die for his crimes.

Liberal bias targets Rep. Allen West
Black conservative under fire
By Ben Sassoon
The headline on the Florida Independent on February 15, 2011 blares, “West Meets with Head of Anti-Muslim Group ‘Act for America’” by Virginia Chamlee. When country music stopped being conservative
Can American Idol winner Scotty McCreery restore down-home values to Nashville?
By Dr. Grace Vuoto
He's gone country—and brought American Idol with him. The baby-blue-eyed 17-year-old contestant, Scotty McCreery, defeated 16-year-old Lauren Alaina for the title of the hit show's 10th season and a lucrative record deal. Yet, the more interesting question is whether Scotty will be able to restore country music to its traditional values now that it has been infected with liberalism to the detriment of the musical genre.

Return to moral leadership
New Catholic Liturgy teaches valuable political lessons
By Joe Tremblay
In recent years, Americans have become increasingly disillusioned with their political leaders. In April 2011, a CBS/New York Times poll showed a 16 percent approval rating and 75 percent disapproval rating for Congress. President Barack Obama's ratings are not faring much better; at least for a sitting U.S. President at this juncture. It is news to no one in America that moral leadership is in short supply today; but how is it to be restored?

No tax dollars for baby-killing
Defund Planned Parenthood
By Kelly Kathryn Llobet
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) must no longer be given American taxpayer money. A majority of Americans do not want federal funding for family planning services to go to abortion providers. One-third of PPFA’s annual budget comes from the American people—and yet, 98 percent of PPFA’s services to pregnant women are abortions.

By Vern Sumnicht

The problem is that America cannot take on these grand adventures simultaneously.
